GUCCI DESIGNER HISTORY

Guccio Gucci, was the son of a Florentine leather craftsman born in 1881 in Florence, Italy. At a young age he acquired an appreciation for the sophistication and aesthetics of cosmopolitan culture, while working as an elevator operator at the Savoy Hotel in London. Guccio Gucci opened his first shop in 1921 crafting and selling luggage and saddlery upon his return to his native Florence.  In 1937, Gucci relocated his shop to a larger space in Lungarno Guicciardini. One year after that, the Gucci business opened a shop on Via Condotti in Rome. Guccio's son, Rodolfo, opened a Gucci shop in Milan In 1951. In 1953, the same year that Guccio passed away, Rodolfo and another of Guccio's sons, Aldo, opened the first overseas Gucci shop on 58th Street Manhattan.

In addition to fragrance, Gucci products include handbags and other leather goods, shoes, ready-to-wear clothing, cosmetics, skin care, jewelry, and watches. Gucci Group N.V's principal activities are designing, distributing and manufacturing luxury apparel and accessories. Products of the Group include ready-to wear, handbags, luggage, small leather goods, shoes, timepieces, jewelry, ties and scarves, eyewear, perfumes, colognes, cosmetics and skin care products.
 

Gucci Perfume History

The Gucci perfume history began when fragrances were introduced with Gucci no. 1 in 1974. Subsequent releases include Gucci no. 3 (1985), Gucci’s Accenti perfume (1995) Envy (1997), Envy for men (1998), Rush (1999), Rush for men (2000), Gucci Eau de Parfum (2002), Gucci Pour Homme (2003) and Envy Me (2004). Recent Gucci perfume and cologne releases include Envy Me 2 (2006), Gucci Pour Homme 2 (2007), Gucci by Gucci (2007), Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme (2008), Gucci Flora (2009).
