Lancome Background: Crisis in 30’ caused stagnancy in Europenian cosmetics and parfumes industry. This chance took American’s firm like: Harriet, Hubbard Ayer and Elizabeth Arden. To changed this situation in 1935 Armand Petitjean (earlier Coty’s director) founded Lancome company. New company (called of palace in Touraine) leaded at the same time five fragrances: “TROPIQUES”, “KYPRE”, “TENDRES NUITS”, BOCAGES”, “CONQUETE”. Petitjean did that because designers suggested whole collection also perfumes designers can do that. He knew that very important to success is interesting wrapping. For thirty years director of art. was painter Georges Delhomme which before also worked for Coty. 50’ was a splendour time for Lancome. Company showed new perfumes: “MAGIE”, “TRESOR”, “PLAISIR”, “FLECHES d’OR”, “ENVOL”. Petitjean to inaugurate each fragrance arranged galas. Lancome gave a job for 500 employees. However at end of 50’ had w big finacial problems. Petitjean retreated of business in 1963 and his comapny has took over by L’Oreal. In 1963 showed new product- “NUTRIX” sensational night serum. In 60’ Lancome invented new trend in maquillage- subtle brown brows and beige eyeshadows. First fall collection was a debut Isabella Rossellini. She was Lancome’s face over 14 years. New version of “Tresor” had premiere in 1990 and this fragrances was considered with Isabella Rossellini. Soon “TRESOR” became a most popular perfums on the world. Lancome also showed fragrances such as: “POEME”, “O OUI".
