Jean Paul Gaultier Background: He done casual corset for women, ballet skirt for man and pink peaked bra for Madonna. He was born in 1952 in Paris and spent his childhood with his excentric grandmother. She exerted on his life and work, she discovered his talent. Grandmother’s lingerie was inspration for Jean Paul, he promoted shape of his first female perfume (woman in corset) and wear lingerie over the clothes. Gaultier became popular after Eurotrash show. He has got comic style because he has short, brighten hair and he wears sailor’s T-shirt, kilt, Dr Martens shoes. His style is very different than classical designes however he studied at Pierre Cardin. After short practic at Estrel and Patou, he started own business. His inspirations was :sweet and powder aroma grandma’s cosmetics, theatre (where he went with his grandmother when he was child), floral aroma in grandma’s bedroom and her resinous nail remover. Female fragrances was close in original case-bottle- female’s body wore pink corset. Case- bottle of male perfum is male’s body wore sailor’s T-shirt but inside is traditional lavender’s water. To after 90’ he matured and his aspirations grew up. In 1996 he showed his first haute couture collection. Many fashion designers for example Dior or Givenchy wanted Gaultier in their company, but he chose independence.
