Thierry Mugler Perfumes at Perfume.Net
Thierry Mugler is best remembered for his insect-like fashion productions that emphasized angular broad shoulders with wasp-like waists. He was first and foremost a fashion designer, even though he was trained as a ballet dancer. When he moved to Paris he took up his interest in fashion more in earnest, doing window-dressing and designing clothing on the side. Thierry’s fashion creations were innovative and sometimes bizarre. They could go from imitating late night film stars dashing elegance to space and robotic fantasies, which involved the models wearing PVC piping. Some of the clothing can still be found on Ebay as vintage clothing, but the fashion house itself died in the 1990s. Instead, Clarins, a cosmetics and skincare company, bought the name and developed a line of perfumes with it.
The Thierry Mugler fragrances are as innovative as their namesake. The first perfume released called Angel became the #1 perfume in France in 1992. In the United States it made the top five. It has an unusual combination of oriental and gourmand scents to it. It was sold exclusively to women. The perfume was such a success that Angel Men was introduced in 1996. From there other fragrances based on the oriental gourmand concept were released: Innocent, Mugler Cologne, B*Men, and Angel Garden of Stars.
In 2005, the company decided to try a new fragrance that had nothing to do with the original and popular Angel perfume. Thus, Alien was created for women. Their most expensive perfume set from Thierry to date is probably Perfume: The Coffret which was a limited edition perfume tied into a move entitled: “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.” It has 15 fragrances in the coffret and sells for $700 and appears to only be available in the U.S. for U.S. residents at this time. The European version sold out.
