This German fashion designer came onto the scene in 1970 when he and his wife entered the Constance magazine fashion contest and won the top three prizes. Wolfgang Joop capitalized on this exposure by then becoming the fashion editor of Neue Mode. In 1971, he went freelance both as a journalist and a designer. His background included some studies in the psychology of advertising and art, but Joop is a very creative individual who is interested in many different artistic pursuits from fashion to art illustration.
He developed a prêt-a-porter line of clothing for women in 1982. He expanded that line to include men’s wear in 1985. He is best known for his designs with furs and had an honorary professorship from a German fashion school where he taught “Fur Fashion With Accessories.” After experiencing some success with his fashion designs, Joop took his name and trademarked it, adding an exclamation point at the end. The “Joop!” trademark was used to sell clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, luxury accessories, and perfumes. The name itself was sold to a third party but continues to be synonymous with the German powerhouse that started the brand. It is now recognized more for its aftershave than for its fashion design.
The line of fragrances with the Joop name come in both men’s and women’s fragrances. The main theme of the fragrances is one of high energy, refreshing scents with names to match. There is Joop Go for men, in bright green packaging. Joop Joop is for women and is an electrifying amber yellow liquid. There is also a Joop Joop for men too. Other classic Joop fragrances are: Joop Jump, Joop Rococo, and Joop Summer Temptation. The fragrances are for people on the go, people who want to live electrifying lifestyles, and people with high-end good taste.
