Elizabeth Arden History: Her real name was Florence Naghtingale Graham and she was born near Toronto in 1878. Her parents were very poor and they had english and scotish roots. Florence faith her name went to the nursery school but she failed, because she hate blood’s view. She esacped to laboratories where helped made ointment and medicines. Florence throw up also this job. She wanted work in New York and to get more mature she practiced at famous beautician- Eleanor Adair. Florence also throw up this job and in 1910 opened own beauty shop at 5th Avenue. Inside salon was pink and door was vivid red. She taught alias- Elizabeth Arden, and that red door became her trade- mark. Soldiers came back from First of World War brought from France to America perfumes and cosmetics. This event caused evolution in amercian’s cosmetic industry. Arden’s empire grew up too. She concured in amercian’s market with other cosmetic’s company but her enemy was Helena Rubinstein. Arden has opened beauty salon in the USA but in Paris or London too. She also sold her articles in department stores. In 1925 her income aproximate 20 million $ and five years later 80 million $ and she sold 108 other products. Her first investition in fragrances industry was buying licence from Babani. In 1935 Arden showed her first perfume- “BLUE GRASS”(floral- oriental aroma). This fragrance was a world’s bestseller for many years. Other Arden’s perfumes are: “CYCLAMEN”, “IT’S YOU”, “ON DIT”. Case- bottle for “CYCLAMEN” was designed by Baccarat. Company opened pink salons with red door on the whole world. Elizabeth Arden worked until her death in 1966. She was 87 and she looked on 60. Arden left her company for relatives, byt they sold it for farmacies company. Very famous was make-up line “SIMPLY PEREFCT”- almost for young clients. In 1989 Arden also like Lagerfeld, Valentino, Cerruti, Elizabeth Taylor, Fendi and Faberge was taught by Unilever. In 1989 showed popular fragrance “RED DOOR” for memory Elizabeth Arden.
