OCEAN PACIFIC – DESIGNER HISTORY

In March of 1969, Edmond Shumpert and Fred Ryan decided to launch their own line of surfboards, naming their company, Ocean Pacific. Together, the two designed and created a number of surfboards, including the popular short board. In August of 1969, Ryan sold the Ocean Pacific surfboard name to Don Hansen, owner of San Diego’s Hansen Surf Shop.

In 1972, Jim Jenks, an employee of Hansen’s, wanted to design a line of apparel specifically for surfers. Hansen allowed Jenks to use the Ocean Pacific name and the apparel line was born featuring the iconic OP logo. The brand immediately became synonymous with the surfer lifestyle.

In the 1990s, the company experienced some financial troubles although it rebounded after being acquired by Iconix Brand Group.

Beauty Tips

Applying the matching powder fragrance along with the matching lotion will make the cologne last a lot longer than applying cologne alone. Apply the lotion after shower wait about a couple minutes then apply cologne and then powder where ever you want it to go. Also; if you have the bath gel for shower or bath beads etc. Use them in bath. Thishelps seal in the fragrance.
