PIERRE CARDIN
Born in 1922 in Italy, beloved visionary designer Pierre Cardin started his fashion career as a bookkeeper and tailor's cutter, eventually becoming a design assistant. He joined the Christian Dior fashion house in 1946.
Pierre Cardin founded his own design house in 1950. Some of his most famous fashion creations were bubble shaped skirts, mini-shift dresses, sci-fi inspired outfits and his ready-to-wear clothing and accessories for women and men.
Pierre Cardin's reputation and popularly grew and in 1985 he received the Ascot Brun award given to the most creative man of the year. Later that year he also won the Fashion Oscar at the Paris Opera House. In 1992, Pierre Cardin was appointed a seat in the Academy of Fine Arts at the French Institute and was an Honorary Ambassador to UNESCO.
