Davidoff was known as a cigarette and cigar house long before it became associated with other luxury goods. The Davidoff tobacco specialty started in Kiev, Russia, until anti-Semitism caused the family to move to Switzerland where they re-established their tobacco shop. The son of Henri Davidoff, Zino, took it upon himself to visit areas like Argentina, Cuba, and Brazil where many tobacco plantations were being worked. It was in Cuba, that Zino was introduced to Cuban cigars, which later became associated with the Davidoff name. Zino Davidoff also was the creator of the first cigar humidor to help buyers preserve the quality of their cigar purchase. Davidoff is still known for its cigars, but now they are manufactured in the Dominican Republic and their product line has expanded to include many other luxury goods. Now, you can find watches, neckties, fragrances, wallets, cognac, and even briefcases with the Davidoff name.
Davidoff fragrances come in men and women’s scents. The women’s scents come in perfumes, eau de toilette, and bath and body products. The men’s scents come in cologne, eau de toilette, and sometimes deodorant, aftershave, or body lotion. There is Cool Water for men and Cool Water for women. The Cool Water fragrance was unusual when it was first introduced by Davidoff and created one of the modern oceanic categories of scent. Davidoff Cologne is sold only for men. It has hints of leather, moss, vetiver, and amber for base notes, with the top notes being more citrusy and herbal. The newest fragrance by Davidoff is called Good Life. It is also proving to be revolutionary for its time. Some suggested, when it first came out in 1999 that a whole new category of fragrance might need to be added to the modern scents, this one called the figurative aromatic. However, that has not happened. It just shows how unique and creative the Davidoff line of scents has become.
